The University Center Rules

We here at The University Center have decided on a number of rules to determine how we will operate the posting of personal information. I tried to think everything out before we started, but as is to be expected with life, something will undoubtedly come up and change things. So, these rules are a work in progress, and can be changed on a decision by the participants.

1. Everything placed here is real.

The basis of this site is that the participants here are real William & Mary students telling their stories. They can put anything they want online, about any topic, and I will change nothing. However, they must only post the truth. This is not a fiction site.

2. "The Names have been changed to protect the innocent."

The names you see here are not the participants real names. They have been changed to protect them, and to help insure that comments here can be with a certain degree of openness. The aliases that are used are designed to allow the participants to feel able to express themselves to their fullest. Since we have rule #1, they cannot tell untruths behind a false facade.

Greek Letter organizations fall under this rule as well. The first to be mentioned will be named Alpha, the second Beta, and so on.

However, DJDave is my real name. (Well, my parents named me David, but my friends added the DJ. But I'm who I say I am.) I felt that one person needed to be the contact point, and available to field questions and handle problems. Every other name has been replaced with an alias. Only myself and the other participants have the list of aliases.

Now, as a side note, if I am ever mentioned in the course of events, it will not be as DJDave (except to note that I run Club Camm.) I too will have an alias in terms of what goes on. This is so that no one can figure out who everyone else is from me. Any posts by DJDave are done from a narrator's perspective (The DJ sees all from behind the tables).

3. Participants may not read one another's diaries.

This is an honor system, and coming from a College with an Honor Code, I think we can stick to it. This is to create an environment that allows each participant to feel free to comment about anyone they wanted to.

4. Participants may not give detailed physical descriptions of people.

The participants have been asked not to give detailed descriptions of anyone's physical appearance. Each participant was given the opportunity to write their own description, and we shall use this as a guide. This, again, is to keep anyone from figuring out who is who. It is of more concern to those who go to William & Mary, rather than the "general Internet audience."

5. Participants must submit an entry to DJDave once a week, to be posted according to this schedule:

[Madeline]: Monday
[Jack]: Tuesday
[Bill]: Wednesday
[Caitlyn]: Thursday
[Allison]: Friday
[Mia]: Saturday
[Erica]: Sunday
[DJDave] : Monday (with the week's narration)

6. Participants can withdraw from The University Center at their discretion, with adequate notice to DJDave.

I don't want anyone feeling they are locked into this. If they feel they no longer want to participate, they can leave with my understanding. I just reserve the right to add participants, especially in the event of current participants leaving.
