I do not know how many of this site's readers are aware of the predicament that Allison and Veronica have found themselves in, but I plan on informing you.I am writing in regards to something that has been happening to two of my good friends. I do not know how many of this site's readers are aware of the predicament that Allison and Veronica have found themselves in, but I plan on informing you. Their sorority is no longer allowing them to write anything concerning Beta, good, bad, or otherwise, on this site. They have both been put on probation after a discipline committee hearing in which they were accused of disrupting chapter unity and the like. I have known Allison and Veronica since freshman year and I was never a big fan of their sorority affiliations (I am not greek). I generally believe that sororities make you what they want you to be and consist of girls that are very molded. However, Beta always seemed different to me. Veronica never changed from the girl I met during Orientation Week, nor did Allison from the girl in my MWF 10am class. They never slighted me and despite all the time commitments that Beta put on them with pledge activities and formals and stuff, I never doubted that they were still close friends and they still made an effort to hang out with me. I was very impressed with Beta as opposed to the other sororities on campus and I even considered rushing for a short while (very short!).
Beginning their junior year, things seemed to change. Neither of them ever had a positive thing to say about Beta and they began to dreed even the smallest Beta activity. I attributed it to rush since all my other greek friends were doing the same. But their attitudes endured long after rush. Veronica often told me that she felt so out of place sometimes and found her support group in Beta dwindling. Allison, too, became frustrated with the status of Beta. I spent much of my time trying to convince Veronica to quit that it just wasn't worth it, as did her boyfriend (or so she said). Veronica wouldn't hear of it. Her loyalties to Beta will always baffle me. Her love for Beta was sprouted her freshman year and she just can't seem to give that up. Beta has given her hell this year, but even with this she still doesn't want to deactivate. Allison is of the same mind and for both their sakes, I hope it works out for them.
I spent much of my time trying to convince Veronica to quit that it just wasn't worth itMe, on the other hand, I am shocked and appalled. I have seen two of my good friends shed more tears in 3 days than I have since I have known them. From what I have been told and what I can observe, Beta has lost sight of what is important, two great girls that would sell their souls to Beta if that's what they needed, and is focused on petty things, like numbers and apperances. I think that the fact that they are no longer allowed to write what they feel is a ludicrous idea. Of all the things that have tainted my views about Beta, Veronica and Allison's posts have not been a cause. Thank you for listening to me. I know you guys have no clue who I am and could probably care less what I think. But thank you very much for allowing me a forum to voice my opinions.
again, thank you
