Main Menu Discussion Area

I have to say, I'm proud. It's been a GREAT week for the site. Lemme tell you all about it... And I assume, you can see some of it.

First, our cool awards....

This one is a neat idea. The Greater Hampton Roads site (the area of which Williamsburg is in) has a site for all local Web Sites, and they choose one each week that they like. They like us... Cool.

Now, I'm really proud of this one. LightSpeed Media, the creators of The Spot who now produce GrapeJam award a site each day to sites they think advance "promote the advancement of entertainment and our choices reflect this. Outside of this thematic boundary, there are no boundaries. "

Our write up:
"Today's "Tomorrow's Site of the Day" takes the episodic one step further, it's real. At William and Mary College, our own Speakeasy Denzion, DJ Dave, has created a place for about 10 or so students to post their thoughts and daily events online. Check out the real world!"

I'm really proud of this... These are people that I really respect their work, and to get a compliment like this from them is really cool....

aww.. shucks...

Now, onto the cool advancements I've brought to you all.

I assume you noticed our new main menu. Like it? I'm really pleased with it... Props to Assistant Webmaster Eric Bartholow for his assistance. I came up with the design, and he fixed all the bugs in my code to make it as elegant as it is now. Thanks Eric. You'll notice that lit windows are new posts today.

At the request of Darth, and others, I came up with a solution to the "I'm getting confused by who is who" problem. Notice the new pop-up windows? (Bill took great advantage of the fact that I told him they were coming.) Just place your mouse on the name of the person whose bio you want to see, and up it comes. I borrowed this idea from GrapeJam, and thanks to Pat "Trick" Nelson and Dave Neilsen of LightSpeed for the help in it... Plus I got to look at their code. :)

My next announcement is that Caitlyn (and maybe someone else) will be on IRC at 3pm on Friday (EDT). As is typical, I'm going to go with channel

#university

If we're a few minutes late, it's cause my class lets out at 2:50. :)

And, my final announcement of the night...

Madeline Williams will be joining the site. She's writing her Who's Who now, and that will go up whenever I get it, and her first post goes up on Sunday.

I think that's enough for one night, don't you?

Talk to you all later.. And feel free to react on the Discussion Area to me and all this stuff, or to any of the other participants. We're reading, and as you can see from the turnaround in implementing Darth's ideas and such, we (being Eric and I) like to be on top of this kind of stuff.

Cheers..

DJDave
