Main Menu Discussion Area

Nov 9, 1996 (1:34am PST)

Wow.. I can write PST now. That's pretty weird. That means it's 4am in Williamsburg (and why I'm so damn tired right now)

I wanted to jot some thoughts down before I forgot them... I was going to do this on the Discussion Area, but I can't get the connection to work from CA right now, so ah well.

What a day. A LONG long day. I turned in my Medical Sociology paper, I took my Sociology Midterm, I turned in my Finite Automata test, I had my SRA interview, and then I went to Norfolk International and flew out. The only thing that really sucked about leaving was the fact that yesterday (Thursday) I managed to find a Nintendo 64, and bought it and Super Mario 64, and now it's 3000 miles away, and I'd love to play a round of Mario.

Anyway, Cinncinati has a nice airport, as does LA (I like the Cinncinati one a little better.. It had a cool tram in it)... And this resort is amazing. My room is at least twice as big as the room I LIVE IN at school.... And I share that with my roommate!!!

And my bathroom... It's the SAME SIZE AS THE HALL BATH! (And 10 of us share that!!!). I can't wait to try out the 60ft waterslide that is here.

I'm really thankful that my job is paying for everything... It's really expensive to travel. Food, transport, everything has been really expensive! I feel like all I do is shell out money.

Well, my body is telling me to sleep, and since I have to get up early tomorrow morning, I really need to get some rest. I'll update this some more, and try and post it tomorrow. Again, I'll be doing my best to keep up on the posts... I got Mia's up with no problem... We'll see how Saturday goes.

Night.

If you're a Spot Fan, you're gonna appreciate this. I saw the ad with Alonzo (Lon) for El Torito Mexican restaurants. This was a big deal! :) I was flipping through the channels, and there it was! I didn't think I'd ever see that...

Not quite the highlight of my day, but pretty damn cool, ya know?

So I went to bed last night at almost 2, and the damn alarm went off at 6:30 this morning. Shower, shave, and dressed in business casual, I went to our first meeting at 7:30. Ugh. A little early, but ah, well. I sat through that until about 10, and assisted in the demo of the company's Website. I debated whether or not to include that link... What the hell. I'm the Webmaster... :)

At noon, we broke for lunch, and I had the afternoon to myself. I toured the resort a little, but the lack of sleep caught up to me. I took a nap. And now I'm up.

So I thought I'd update this note, and then I'm getting ready for a Beer and Wine tasting. Cool. I don't have to pay for it... :) I've never been to a wine tasting, so I'm kinda psyched for this.

I think we're going out to dinner after that (not like we're cooking here), and then... Who knows. Catch ya a little later.

Oh, and one more thing... The building I'm staying in is Agave. Agave. How about that.

Nov 10, (1:03a.m. PST)

Continuing the adventures of the evening... So I went to the wine & beer tasting. I am proud to say I sampled all the varieties of wine, and tried some of the beer. I talked shop with some the stockholders, and on the way out... They had wine left over. So the staff got it. I have FOUR bottles of wine to take home with me. And this is good California wine, from a local vineyard. This trip is pretty damn amazing so far. And the best part -- they were going to deliver the wine to my room. I didn't even have to carry it back to my room.

After that, my boss, one of the secretaries, myself and two of the stockholders went to dinner. I had an Ameretto Sour (the best I think I've ever had... It's my favorite mixed drink) and a New York steak... My boss and one of the stockholders talked shop for a while, and when dinner was over, Courtney wanted to meet our meeting planner Karen at the club at the Marriott... So we did.

It was kinda cheesy a place... Like a frat party on steriods, with a band that did covers of dance tunes.. Weird. I do have to say, that the women were, shall we say, VERY attractive. And DRESSED UP. Wow dressed up. I felt pretty underdressed in my standard going out attire (which would have fit in fine at W&M) of jean shorts, Tshirt with button down over it and favorite hat. But hats were against the dress code. :/ Ah well. Some fine looking women on the West Coast.

So on the way back, I'm talking with my boss, and we're talking about the prices of stuff (and I quote from him -- "they rape you at these places"), but he said that I SHOULD pick up a key to the mini-bar, since work is paying for it. So I did. I'm having gummy bears and a soda from the mini bar I type. ;)

Well, I'm gonna upload this, put up this post and todays, and get some sleep. I don't have a meeting till 4:30, so I think I'll sleep in, get some lunch, go swimming, and then do my one-on-one meetings (the main reason I'm actually out here).

This is like a weird dream. I can't believe they pay me to do this.
