So we're done.

That's it. At least, for now.... August is a few short months away, and we'll do this all over again.

Before I talk about the future, I want to say a few things about graduation.

Graduation was a great day.... Everyone says it's all anti-climactic and all, but it was everything I was hoping for. I met everyone in front of the Wren building, we processed across campus (which was an absolute blast), and then we attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was great. Thatcher was a good (I've seen her better) speaker, the student speaker was great, and then I got my degree.

There is a good story next... When I get to the Computer Science reception afterwards, I find my parents. They inform me that the department isn't having an individual degree awards ceremony, but just a reception. The continue that they pulled "that man" {and they point at MY ADVISOR, the nicest guy around, Professor Bynum} aside and chewed him out, and he went to the higher ups. My stepmom apparently said that she was really upset that she had seen her two other kids be presented their diplomas, but wouldn't get the opportunity to see me get the same.

Well, apparently Professor Bynum went to Professor Prosl (the next up... The chair wasn't there), and Prosl reorganized everything so that we each WOULD get our diplomas. Apparently, they used to do it that the students just went to a table and picked them up.

My parents were pleased. I was a little embarrassed at first, but now I just find the whole thing really funny. I mean, it was cool to get it individually... and to have a good story like that...

That night, we all hit Paul's really hard. We had to -- it was the last time.

I said my goodbyes... Mostly a lot of "until next time", since I think I'll see a lot of them soon. Mads came by, and she was really upset about leaving when it was "that time" to get on the road. Jack left with some bravado... Bill and I did lunch before we left, which was cool. I know Mia took off as soon as she could. And I think I'll see Allison really soon.

I spoke with Caitlyn today too... She's not entirely happy at home, but we'll have to see. I'm hoping it works out for her.

So that was my last few moments at William & Mary.

Now, where are we going from here? Good question. I'm still working that all out. Here's what I do know. This site will remain up ALL summer. You can dig through all those old posts. You can still post on the Discussion Area. And every so often, I'll have something new up for ya. Just to make you feel loved.

The site will get a summer renovation in about a week, so that it won't be quite so "daily" oriented. But everything you've known and loved will still be here.

And from what I hear, some of the participants are planning on writing every so often... so keep coming by.

While we're all waiting, I encourage you to dive in on Open Books. It looks like it's just about ready to get started (we wanted everything right before we started), and so dive in over there -- it looks to be really exciting.

Lastly... thanks. Thanks for making this work. Thanks for reading. And thanks for endulging me in our first attempt.

I promise I'll make the next one even better.

See you around the Net... Here on the UC, around, and over on Evolutionary Thoughts. (If you haven't checked it out, it's the board where you can chat with everyone involved in EvolveTech.)

Thoughts..

DJDave
