"I smell like Windex. I can't pick up chicks."

Quote of the weekend. Uttered by none other than me. A bunch of Evolvetech people went out Saturday night to see a friend's band play, and one of my friends sprayed me with the Windex bottle before we left. That was my reaction.

It was pretty funny at the time.

So I'm back from a GREAT weekend. Evolve signed a deal on Friday (we're in development for a new website), made some serious progress on another project, and things are looking good for us. Plus, we all went out and had a blast (go see Gonzo's Nose if they play near you.. :> ), and I even came out of the deal with a lightsaber. Found one at the comic book store, and I had to have it.

I promised the second story from high school, and so here it is....

Back in high school, I worked at the local McDonald's. Well, as my senior year started up, my best friend and I were both promoted to management, and put in charge of weekend openings of the store.

My best friend and I had known one another since 8th grade, and we did everything together. He transferred to the public school for the beginning of 9th grade, but we still hung out all the time. He started working at Mickey D's before me, and helped me get the job. Then, we were promoted together.

So we ran the weekend morning shifts, and we had a lot of fun doing it. We knew all the people on that shift (they were all our age) and they loved working with us (more fun when it's all high school). I worked the front counter and drive thru, and all the cash management, while my friend handled the grill area.

As senior year wrapped up, a junior from the public school started working there. She was kinda cute, and worked counter and then drive-thru. She flirted with me a lot, and I was more than happy to return it, especially since I wasn't dating anyone at the time.

Summer after graduation rolled around, and in June, she left me this note with a picture, and the letter was a long one, but at the end she "hinted" about us going on a date.

So I asked her out.

We went to dinner, and then a movie.. Then, back to her place, and we watched a little TV, and then I left... and on the way out, my first ever kiss.

Yeah, I was a late bloomer I guess.

So the next day she wanted to get together... We went to downtown Annapolis, walked around and hung out. I had a basketball game that afternoon with my friends, and she wanted to come along...

Well, she ended up playing. Did well too. As we were leaving, she was asking what we were all doing that night.... My best friend (who was there), mentioned that we were watching a movie at his place.

She invited herself along.

Not that I had a problem with it at the time.

We went over to his place that night... Her, me, him, and another of our friends and his girlfriend. After the movie, our other friend and his girlfriend left, and she invited my best friend and I to her place to use the hottub.

Both of us.

She left to make a phone call, and my best friend asked why she was inviting us both. I didn't know. He asked if I was cool with it, and I responded... "Sure, I guess. Why not?"

Well, we went to her place and used the hot tub. And she was kinda weird, very pulled back from me. More interested in him than anything else. At the end of the night, she said goodbye to us both, and we left.

The next day, she called me and somehow, we got in an argument. And broke up with me.

And promptly called my best friend for a date.

He called me right then, asking "Are you ok with this?" I replied that I was, but I didn't really want anything to do with her if they went out, since she dumped me and ran to him, and it was weird and I didn't think it sat right.

Well, they went out. And then started going out. I told him it was fine, but that if he was going to hang out with me, I didn't really want to see her.

Well, one day, he's supposed to go to the mall with me, and he comes over with her. I tell the two of them to go without me, that I had made myself clear on what I wanted and to just go.

He called me that evening and apologized, saying it would never happen again.

Fourth of July was quickly approaching, and my best friend and I had long standing plans to go to the Annapolis Fireworks together. We had all the plans worked out, and we were going with some of our friends.

The day of the fireworks rolls around, and he calls me. "Dave, the plans have changed. I'm going to drive her Dad's minivan down, so we can fit everyone in."

My response: "Well, if you're driving her Dad's minivan, then I guess she's coming, huh?" "Yeah" "Well, then I guess I'm not going." "Oh. See ya then."

So I put something together on my own. And nothing was ever the same again. We didn't talk anymore, we didn't hang out anymore... Nothing.

And they dated for almost 3 years, breaking up sometime in his and my junior year.

And we don't speak anymore.

So you've now heard the stories of the two people who I have long standing disagreements with. My mom, and my best friend from high school. I still hear about him, through some mutual friends, but apparently, while I still ask about him, he never asks about me.

Oh, well.

P.S. Any additional topics for me to talk about? I haven't told the story of why I didn't drink till I was 21 yet... or I can tell another one if you're interested in something.
