First off, our link for Evolve Technologies is going offline for a little while this coming weekend, and I wanted to make you all aware of it. It is a bandwidth upgrade, but it is going to knock out service for about 4 hours.
The planned downtime is this Saturday evening the 25th from 10:00pm until 2:00am Sunday morning the 26th.
Second, I have some news. This move in a new direction for the University Center is not without growing pains. Jack has decided not to continue participating in the University Center project, and his post this coming Monday (to be posted Tuesday) will be his last on the site. Citing a lack of interest, and a concern over the "commercialization of the site", Jack has decided to leave the project.
I certainly regret his departure, but after talking with the other participants, I am confident about the future of the site. Everyone else is firmly committed to the idea, and do not see this move as a "sell out" or something like that. They know that the spirit of this site has not changed, and I do not intend to change it. We do this cause we love it, not to make a quick buck.
I will admit, we are looking at sponsorships. However, we will NOT place any ads on individuals diary entries. It's their space, and I'm not going to mess with that. Any ads we do will be in "common areas" and such, not individual posts.
I won't sell out the spirit that makes this site what it is. I promise that.
If you have any thoughts on this, I welcome taking them to the Discussion Area. I want to hear what you have to say.
