Erica has come to me asking about what we're going to do when she graduates in two weeks. And I don't really have a good answer for her. Let me outline what's going on, and how she feels, and you all can tell me (privately, remember) what you think.
She graduates in two weeks. She's going to me moving to outside of DC, where some of the "peripheral" people live from the site, but not in direct contact with anyone down here at W&M. She also won't be a student anymore. This offers advantages and disadvantages.
She can talk about what it's like to be "just out" and such. Obviously, her "story" -- rather, life -- is not done being told.
However, she's not here anymore, and not interacting in the microcosm that is W&M.
She doesn't know how her posts have been recieved recently... She tells me her feedback is down, and while I know from the stat records that her posts are as read as everyone else's, she doesn't see the interaction herself.
Erica came to me and asked for my opinion, and to send out the "feelers" and get an idea of what the feeling is from the readership. So I'm doing that. (And I mention that she came to me so you all know that I'm not sneaking around behind her back. I ask you all to keep it private simply because I don't want the participants to think we're up to shady dealings when they see a thread on the discussion area talking about keeping Erica or not.).
I want to stress that we're not taking a vote here. I'm not collecting ballots and figuring out someone's future. I just think it's more fair to see what you all feel about this before I talk with her, and the TWO OF US together decide where we're going.
This is an interactive site, so here's your chance to get interactive.
I'll keep you all updated throughout the week on what we're all feeling in this. If you don't want your thought shared in one of my posts, please let me know, and of course I will respect that. If you're really insistent that your comments get INTO one of my posts, I'll see what I can do -- no promises!!! :)
Share with me your thoughts, so that I can help Erica make the decision on this.
Thanks, and asking for your interaction and understanding (and tact!!) :)--
