Allright, time for a little cross post continuation.
I was also present when Paul had his run-in with Matt the Idiot Pizza Guy. Of course, Sean and I were in the room when Jack worked on his post and lemme tell you something. You missed out on the best part. While Jack is absolutely insane in that rant, it cannot hope to compare to the experience of listening to him read it aloud. He is such a truly...dynamic personality, that pressure was immediately on to talk DJDave into adding RealAudio narration by Jack (okay, by his real self). Withoutthe evangelistic glee and village idiot inflection with which he rants in person, one truly does "not know Jack"...
...lucky bastards.
Paul finally spoke with the main office of Chanello's Pizza, where he was told that extra cheese is indeed a topping. We were all, needless to say, speechless in shock at this revelation. Now we wait for the vengeance to rain down upon the man who gives pizzaria managers a bad name. This may all seem somewhat petty to those not involved, but when someone backs up idiocy with a statement like "I don't like being given ultimatums", its time to dish out some shit. What can I say...I grew up with vindictive friends.
We managed to fit not 1, but 2 fire alarms in today. The first one went off (supposedly) because of a power outage. Unfortunately, said outage also meant that the alarm did not sound at the station. So the residents of Bryan complex got to stand outside in a cold downpour for half an hour before anyone bothered to show up and let us know we could go back in the dorms. This evening, some hallmates playing floor hockey in the hall set the alarm off again. Response was immediate this time, so it wasn't nearly as uncomfortable or inconvenient. The punchline came about 20 minutes ago. Our RA told us that tommorow night, we have a scheduled fire alarm. The alarms have gone off a half dozen times as a result of the cable/phone line installations. I think we know how the damn thing works by now.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good decongestant? I have been trying to kick a nasty cold since Friday. So far, Contac and Claritan (both licensed trademarks used without permission) haven't worked for me. Dimetapp is usually the best bet for me, but I haven't had luck with it this time. So if somebody know anything that might help (short of bizarre home remedies), drop me a line. Even if I'm better by the time one goes up, cheap ways around a stuffy nose are always welcome.
I got together with the guys from the band on Saturday night. Things were a little sketchy, but it was nice to shake loose some of the cobwebs on my playing. We still have some majors problems to cross in terms of stylistic differences, but we came up with some good possibilities to bridge the gaps between a jazz influenced bassist and a Bob Dylan/REM influenced singer/songwriter. Progress, but not quite good enough yet. We also have a prospect in the new guitarist area. Apparently, some guy is expressing interest and it looks good so far. Somedays, I wish it was as easy as it used to be at home, where most of my social group were musicians and finding a replacement for almost any instrument was never that tough. (except for drummers...amazing how my high school band's percussion section couldn't keep time with a fucking watch, let alone a drum set).
I have another quiz on a book in my religion class tommorrow and I'm having a nic fit. Gotta go
