Hokey smokes, Bullwinkle...it's Tuesday already!

It finally started getting cold here in the 'burg. Its about damn time, as far as I'm concerned. What with being a yankee and all, it just doesn't feel like fall until the temperature starts dropping. Its a sign of the start of my favorite time of year. The start of the holiday season (whoo hoo!).

Okay...find the running theme in my life of late. Last week, I was in themood for buffalo wings. I went out to buy some bottled wing sauce, only to be sadly dissappointed in the quality. Texas Pete's is a fine hot sauce, but their Buffalo Wing sauce tastes the same as their normal hot sauce. Nothing particularly buffalo about it. Then, when the weekend rolled around, Dana came down to visit and we went to the Hampton Coliseum Mall. After we finished up there, we crossed the parking lot to have dinner at Bennigan's. For an appetizer, I ordered the buffalo shrimp (wonderful stuff...food of the gods). My main course was a Buffalo chicken sandwich (a fried chicken sandwich dipped in wing sauce. I always order that at Bennigan's) with an extra side of buffalo wing sauce for my fries and to pour over the chicken to catch the dry spots. Last night, the lines at the University Center at dinner were too long and I needed to get to work. So after work, I headed over to Lodge 1 (formerly the UC Cafe and the Rathskeller. Every year they change the damn name). There, I ordered...buffalo wings. They were $4.00 for a dozen wings. And fairly good for Marriott food. Better than most of the wings I've had this far south. So, to make a long story short (too late), Dana mocks me for the buffalo wing fixation every chance she gets.

I talked with my folks about getting a new pair of cowboy boots for Christmas. They needed the size, width, leather, and brand name information. I'm excited because both of my other pairs are pretty water damaged. With both pairs, I went out when it was sunny and when I had to walk home, the sky was pouring. Even the tougher pair took some damage. That is of course the pair made out of buffalo hide. Notice a trend yet?

This weekend, I'm headed to the Beta formal. Dana is coming back as her little sister's invite. Way too many of my friends are going to be there. We've got 2 or 3 Alpha brothers, one of the pledges, and a friend of mine who graduated 2 years ago and is coming back to go as a favor to a mutual friend of ours who is a Beta. At least I'll have someone to carry me home...

I finished lunch on Thursday and was thinking about skipping my Classical Civilizations class, when I randomly decided to check the sylabus. What should I discover but that we had a test that day, about 25 minutes from when I finished lunch. Of course I hadn't studied and had no blue book. But I managed to get about 10 minutes of cramming in before I had to track down someone to sell me an extra blue book. The part that amuses me is that I think I did better on this test than I did on the last one. I just wish I hadn't skipped the class where he lectured on the 12 labors of Heracles. I only remembered about 6 of them.

No new music this week. I did get to see the new version of "Romeo and Juliet". Very well done, in my somewhat inexpert opinion. I loved John Leguizamo as Tybalt (a character I can rarely stomach). Of course seeing Mercutio in drag was a little odd, but not out of character, when taken in the new context. For the last third of the film, I had to fight the urge to make wisecracks about Romeo being Juliet's "So Called Husband". I probably would have had popcorn and shit thrown at me if I'd said it. Gotta go now.

Still Pondering "My So Called Future",

Buffalo Bill
