Sorry about the missing post from last week. I was being a delinquent.

Let's see...what have we missed in the past two weeks. One the last day of classes, my big, big brother in Alpha, Brad Getz, came to town. He brought down this huge neon sign for the Bar and a bottle of Makers Mark whiskey for the brothers. He is one of the bitterest men I know, but he is also one big hearted bastard. One of our other alums refers to him as "Magnanimous Motherfucker." That sums it up pretty nicely.
Several of us went around toasting the buildings and ringing the bell at the Wren Building. After we were done, I went back and continued to hang out and party. I passed out at about 6:30 and woke a little after 9. A huge crowd of us ended up in Jack and Paul's room watching "The Dukes of Hazzard Reunion." Brad spent much of the evening putting either Mads or Allison in handcuffs. All in all, it was fairly anti-climactic. No stellar partying...no trips to the Early Eighties party...no trips to the hospital. Oh well.
Last Tuesday, I had the only exam that I have been particularly worried about. I had a C in the class (not counting the failed quizzes) and I did almost no studying for the exam. For some reason, it ended up being easier than the mid terms, so I was excited. I finished the test and packed up the car for a trip up to visit Dana. I got up there, only to remember that I had forgotten to send Dave my post. I called, apologized, kissed his ass a little, and he let me off of the hook (more or less). After all, what was he going to do...fire me? But I am sorry about the whole thing. I had so much on my mind that I dropped the ball. Oops. I would have felt a whole lot worse if Dave didn't have another post for that day.
I had second interviews with two companies (one Wednesday and one Friday) in the D.C. area. Both of them look like great jobs. One is in insurance sales and the other is with a small consulting firm. I'm praying for an offer or at least a solid third interview. I scared shitless at the idea of graduating with no real idea of where I'm headed. My folks won't let me starve, but I also have no urge to build up the kind of debt that all of my siblings have had to deal with. I also don't want to have to mooch off of friends for a place to live until the paychecks start arriving. Several friends ahve offered me temporary housing until I can come up with somehting permanent, but the idea of doing that for more than a couple of weeks really bugs me. I have mooched enough off of most of these people for the last four years. I don't want to keep it up after graduation. Mike, my roommate form last year and my first Alpha little, is also looking at coming down to the D.C. area and we're talking about living together, but to my knowledge, neither of us has anything firmed up in terms of a job yet.
There is really only one thing that I am sure of...I need to get out of here. I love William and Mary, but the time for me to be here is just about passed. I finally jumped the Wall at the Governors Palace last night (with DJDave among others) and it was a blast. It was the last piece of business that I needed to wrap up before I left Williamsburg. I never had any interest in doing it before, but I had just enough alchohol in me to create some interest. So a whole crowd of mildly intoxicated students went to hop the wall and run around where they weren't supposed to be. Stealth and whiskey sours don't mix. I got winded getting over the wall and was panting and breathing heavy through the maze. And to top it all off, I wasn't really concerned about getting caught. It sure would have made the whole story more interesting.

Last week, Dana bought me two CDs that I wanted for my graduation present. One was a 1993 import of the Cuban band Irakere called "En Vivo." It is some solid stuff although it lacks the two top horn players from the band's late 1970s peak (Arturo Sandoval and Pacquito D'Rivera). Good set list and more consistantly high energy than the best-of disc I picked up a few weeks ago. No slow stuff to speak of. The second disc was the New Grass Revival: Live CD I asked about a few weeks ago. Thanks again David B. We were able to track it down and it is damn good. I owe you one.
There will probably be a final post from many of us between now and the time we move out on Monday, but in case I don't get a chance...thanks for reading. It is a real ego trip and a lot of fun to work on the site for the past 9 months. Muchos Gracias.
I'm gonna go now,
Bill
Go forward an entry
