man, this whole campus network problem is pissing me off.

On the other hand, my business on campus is coming along well. I'm a slacker by nature and this past summer has forced me to start taking a more active in my own life...its a matter of changing habits that have influenced me for all of my life. I don't feel like being controlled by behaviors which I should have a grip on.

I had a wonderful weekend the first couple of days back. My father and I rented a truck to move stuff out of storage instead of borrowing my sisters van. We got everything in one trip and didn't tear each others heads off in the process. On top of that, my girlfriend was in town. It was a pseudo- surprise (we already knew she was coming down this upcoming weekend, but last weekend was still uncertain). I've had real problems with long distance relationships before, but this time, I have yet to have anyone demonstrate to me that I'm making a mistake. She's wonderful, tolerates my most bizarre quirks, and rarest of all in my experience, she gets along with my friends. Now if I can just keep from pissing off her's...

Speaking of people in town, an old friend of mine is back in town. He graduated a while back and is now here for grad work. Some of my friends have real serious problems with him over certain tendencies. While I have to concede the validity, he comes through for me in a way in which few friends possibly could. I have to base my decisions about my friends based on how they treat me, and right now, I don't having this man watching my back...

I just made contact with one of the guys in the band I'm in and they apparently have contacted a new guy to take over the guitar work. In addition, I introduced my roommate to the music of Charles Mingus. My roommate is a hardcore rap fan, but he has a better appreciation for jazz than most people I've met who don't play it themselves. For those of you unfamilier with Mingus...change that. He is one of truly great composers of the 20th century and a master bassist and bandleader. There is no way I can put into words what this man brought to music (and as my friends will tell you, in person I would try to...at length). If you can, at least become acquainted with some of his work.

Its 3 in the morning and I didn't intend to type this long...oops Night, y'all
