Evolve Technologies Links Southern Maryland Cancer Treatment Centers

Computer networking and helpdesk support enhance patient care

Fairfax, Va. — June 19, 2007 — Evolve Technologies (www.evolvetech.com), a company that specializes in providing information technology (IT) solutions for small businesses, announced today the successful completion of a project linking the two operating sites of the Chesapeake Potomac Regional Cancer Center (CPRCC). In a related announcement, Evolve Technologies will provide CPRCC ongoing IT support, including complete helpdesk services.

CPRCC provides radiation therapy services to cancer patients living in southern Maryland from locations in Waldorf and Charlotte Hall. CPRCC sought to link the two facilities electronically to streamline patient care and thereby enhance the quality of care delivered. CPRCC turned to Evolve Technologies to devise and implement a solution to achieve this objective.

Evolve Technologies installed a Microsoft Exchange Server integrated with Microsoft Windows Server. The use of a Citrix-based, remote-access solution allows the two facilities to share a common patient database and securely access patient data from any location. The application includes Microsoft Outlook, which gives staff calendaring capabilities and other advanced software features. File security was a major concern throughout the effort, and Evolve Technologies ensured strict compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) requirements for protecting health care information.

Betty Cameron, CEO, CPRCC, said, “Evolve Technologies has taken CPRCC to the next level by linking our facilities and is enabling us to better serve the patients who depend on us. We’re already witnessing greater staff efficiency and effectiveness, which will ultimately translate to improved patient outcomes.”

Dave Sobel, CEO, Evolve Technologies, said, “We are excited at the prospect of an ongoing relationship with CPRCC. Beyond the satisfaction of knowing our technical solution supports the medical technology in place at these facilities, we are thankful to be able to give caregivers yet another edge in the fight against cancer.”

Evolve Technologies also implemented this solution for Maryland Regional Cancer Care (MRCC), the largest radiation therapy provider in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. MRCC treats nearly 2,000 people a year at locations in Bowie, College Park, Rockville and Silver Spring.
